The City of Cauayan was selected as the venue for the conduct of the 12th National Rice Technology Forum at Barangay Nungnungan 2, Cauayan City on April 6-8, 2021.
The opening program was attended by some officers of the Department of Agriculture Region 2 headed by Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo, Provincial Governor Rodolfo T. Albano III, and the City officials headed by Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy.
Mayor Bernard Dy extended his appreciation to the department for choosing Cauayan for the conduct of the NRT Forum. Getting the opportunity of the time, Mayor Dy informed the group of farmers regarding the program of city government by introducing smarter agriculture in using technology to increase the yields of Cauayan farmers.
“Rest assured that the city government will give our 150% support to the program being implemented by the Department of Agriculture”, Mayor Dy added.
Meantime, Provincial Governor Rodolfo Albano III expressed gratitude to all farmers for keeping the agriculture sector alive. According to him, the provincial government is always at hand to support the program for these farmers as they are the backbone of the economy in the province. At present, the provincial capitol is giving 2 pesos support price if sold to NFA. He even encouraged the farmers to sell their crops at Nagkakaisang Magsasakang Isabelino Cooperative.
“ Tayo ay nagpapasalamat sa panginoon dahil hindi lang maganda ang presyo ng palay ngayon kundi malusog pa,” Governor Albano remarked.
Meantime, the Department of Agriculture through the Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo said that the holding of the National Rice Technology Forum is a way to help the farmers in introducing modern technology farming in order to enhance the capability of our rice farmers to increase their production.
