1st Mayor Jaycee Dy Invitational Barangay and Inter-agency First Aid Olympics

1st Mayor Jaycee Dy Invitational Barangay and Inter-agency First Aid Olympics is held last July 23, 2022 at Cauayan City National High School Stakeholder’s Gymnasium, as a part of our various activities for the month long celebration of the NATIONAL DISASTER RESILIENCE MONTH 2022 with a theme of “Sambayanang Pilipino, Nagkakaisa tungo sa Katatagan at Maunlad na Kinabukasan.” 

As the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, it is our duty to conduct trainings and scenario-based drills and simulations exercises in all sectors of the community. In addition, we are seeking for support system to address all kinds of hazards.

This activity is a joint project of the Gender and Development and the Cauayan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and is joined by 34 Barangays and 4 Agencies.  The activity is  intended to all  Female of Barangay personnel and Agencies, Green Ladies, Barangay Health Workers, Sangguniang Kabataan, Katipunan ng mga Kabataan, Barangay Nutrition Scholar, Barangay Day Care Workers, CSO’s, NGO’s, barangay residence and Barangay Officials in the City of Cauayan and shall focus on how a group provides first aid care on a timely basis.

Generally, the 1ST Mayor Jaycee Dy Invitational Barangay and Inter-Agency First Aid Olympics aims to encourage barangays, communities and agencies in participating in different DRRM related activities.

Specifically, it aims to attain the following objectives:

  1. To motivate people from different sectors to sustain their exemplary efforts and practices
  2. To encourage integration of first aid in Operations
  3. To foster a competitive spirit and good sportsmanship
  4. To increase awareness of barangay and agencies with regard to the mandated functions, roles and responsibilities, in accordance with the R.A. 10121
  5. To recognize barangays and agencies who are able to meet the standards in giving emergency care
  6. To identify any problems/inadequacies and to provide avenue for improvement.
  7. To promote Gender Equality.

Skill 1: Bandaging Techniques

Players were task to choose a bandaging technique in a fishbowl and demonstrated it correctly.

Skill 2: Splinting and Spine Board Management

As a team, participants will perform splinting techniques to the victim with the materials provided. After the application of the splints, the team will load and carry the victims observing proper spine board management.

Skill 3: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

A First Responder is on the scene and will perform the initial steps in BLS until the 2nd rescuer arrives with BVM. Both rescuers will then perform the 1 and 2 adult BLS with BVM only

Winners on the competition are given trophies, cash prizes and are announced during the 3rd CDDRM Council meeting held on July 29, 2022 at Isabela Convention Center.
