The City Nutrition Committee is undergoing search for the Best Communal Vegetable Gardening in all the barangays of the city. Currently, the evaluation team is visiting the communal gardening project to determine what barangays are sustaining the project in support to the Food Security showcasing the Good Practices in Food Production to ensure availability of safety source of food right at the doorstep of every household.
The judging is based on the criteria set by the committee like the location with placard/ signage, containing a high diversity of plants, showcase organically grown open pollinated varieties of vegetables, area of 100 square and above, accordingly grown and maintained by the purok members, and, the economic impact to the community.
The search will last for the final evaluation on November 27, 2021 while the selection of winners will be known during the Awarding Ceremony on March 30, 2022.
The National Nutrition Month Celebration Theme in the past three years was adopted by the City Nutrition Committee; “Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin” This undertakings highlights the significance of food security in the countryside which is considered as the basic constraints in obtaining and maintaining good nutrition in all ages. Therefore, the City Government of Cauayan with the localized implementation of SDG 2 in the countryside realized sustainable gardening and High Value Commercial Crops (HVCC) projects in the community, home and school in support for Health and Nutrition drive.
