Cauayan City has passed the initial DOH assessment requirement and is ready for the roll out of the vaccination program. This was announced by Ms. Karen Justo, Development Management Officer of DOH Region 2 informing that Cauayan City got 63% passing rate and is looking forward to get higher percentage as the big day (Vaccination roll-out) is set.
According to Ms. Justo, the vaccines (Sinovac) are expected to arrive in the region by next week, with an initial of 4,000 to 5,000 vaccines which will be given priority to hospital covid-19 referral center.
The City Government of Cauayan has long been ready to meet the DOH standard for the roll out program with the establishment of a 2.5 million peso budget Vaccination Operations Center having a ceremonial blessing today (March 3, 2021).
In his speech, Mayor Bernard Dy told the group that the coming of the covid vaccines will likely end the pandemic exhorting everyone in the group to disseminate and encourage the beneficiaries to avail the program.
“ Thank you to all of you who are our soldiers in the next coming days and month . Good luck…I hope we can stick to it, konting tiis na lang. We are seeing the light of the end of the tunnel. Definitely, by God’s grace, we’ll get the vaccine as soon as possible”. Mayor Bernard Dy remarked.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Kristine Purugganan informed that during the roll-out, priority groups that will get the vaccinesS are those from Category A: the Frontliners , that includes healthworkers, Barangay Health Workers , and members of the BHERTS, the Indigents, and Senior Citizens. Next will be the group of teachers, students with 18 years and above, PWD’s,and members of the Indigenous People.
As of this writing, Dr. Harold Bañez had informed that the city has already recorded 611 infected cases and 20 deaths, to which with the arrival of the vaccines may soon end the pandemic.
After the program, a simulation was performed on the sequence of vaccination. From the arrival of the beneficiaries going to Registration area, Counseling and Final Consultation Area, Screening Area for BP, Temperature Check, Personal Hygiene, Vaccination Area, up to the Post Vaccination Area where clients will stay up to 30 minutes for proper observation on any effect of the vaccine.
