March 30, 2022, is the 21st founding anniversary of the city after its conversion into a component city by virtue of Republic Act 9017, signed by then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and ratified on March 30, 2001.
The one- day celebration was filled with joyous activities and participated in by all sectors, following a Thanksgiving Mass at Our Lady of the Pillar Parish, a parade around major thoroughfares in the poblacion areas, and the opening program at F.L. Dy Memorial Coliseum.
In his opening message, Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy expressed his overwhelming joy and gladness to see people celebrating the event after being unable to do so for years due to the pandemic. According to him, the pandemic taught people to be strong and stand still to survive because of their self-virtues and courage. They were ready to face the future and better days to come.
This year’s theme is “A smarter and future-ready city, ensuring better days for every Cauayeño”.
“We make sure that no one is left behind. We make sure that all sectors, lahat ng mga mamamayan ay sama sama at magtutulungan . Kaya naman in the next 30, 40 or in the next 100 years of Cauayan City, let us all make sure that we, as proud Cauayenos, will continue to improve lives , to live better, and to make a possible impact sa bawat isa sa atin”, said Mayor Bernard Dy.
On the same occasion, different personalities were given recognition for their exemplary contributions to the program of the city government in localizing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). , Such Awards are the Best Barangay SDG Implementer, Ten Outstanding Kabataang Cauayeños, The Annual Django Awards, and the Star Awards for employees.
